Ideas for Ceremony Music
Prelude Music-Unless you want otherwise I am ready to begin prelude music 25 minutes before ceremony start time. I will begin then or as soon after that as I see guests begin to arrive. Usually couples do not select the prelude or postlude music but instead give me an idea of the style of music they are wanting.
Most couples pick two Processionals, one for the wedding party to enter with and then one for the bride or your beloved's entrance.
Optional -Special Music can be selected if desired during the ceremony for a candle lighting, hand fasting, sand ceremony, communion or possibly after a reading in a religious service.
Most couples pick a Recessional which is the joyous selection to see the couple back down the aisle. I will follow this with other joyous postlude music to see people out of the space. You do not need to select the postlude music.
For cocktail hour unless you want otherwise I tend to play a light mix of popular music and light classical. Couples do not usually pick this music as there is a lot of it.
While the following are not the only ceremony music choices this music works very well. The processionals have numerous places to end which helps gracefully time the walk down the aisle. The pieces are of course much longer but the snippet will give you a feel for what the piece is like.
Here are some ceremony music ideas and sound clips:
